Suspicious device in downtown San Jose deemed safe

UPDATE: The package has been deemed safe, police said.

All streets have reopened and all evacuation orders have been lifted.


SAN JOSE (KRON)—Police are investigating a suspicious device in downtown San Jose Tuesday afternoon.

A possible burglary was reported in a storage unit on the 200 block of S. 4th Street around 2:52 p.m.

Officers found proof of a burglary, but they also found a suspicious device.

The bomb squad was called in and decided to evacuate the area near N.4th Street.

Authorities are still investigating the scene.
