2 dogs stolen from Salinas animal shelter

SALINAS (BCN) —¬†Police are asking for the public’s help in their search for two dogs stolen from the Salinas Animal Shelter on Sunday.

The theft happened sometime between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. at the city-owned shelter at 144 Hitchcock Road, police said.

One of the dogs is a puppy named Cora, a 4-month-old white and black pit bull mix up for adoption, according to police.

Cora weighs about 20 pounds and has a microchip and visible scar from recently getting spayed, police said.

The other dog is Mary Jane, a 3-year-old white and brown brindle pit bull mix that weighs around 65 pounds and was kept at the shelter’s stray dog area, according to police.

Anyone with information on the location of the dogs is asked to notify police or animal services.
