PETALUMA (BCN)—A homeless man was arrested Tuesday evening after allegedly vandalizing several vehicles in Petaluma, according to police.

Police said a man allegedly broke the passenger side window of a car shortly after 6 p.m. in the parking lot of an Ihop on Old Redwood Highway.

According to police, prior to officers arriving, the suspect was armed with a landscaping brick and stepping-stones, and proceeded to the corner of North McDowell Boulevard and Old Redwood Highway to continue to throw objects at passing vehicles.

As a result, the suspect, later identified as Paul Unangst, 29, damaged five additional vehicles.

Police said several people who witnessed the vandalism, chased the suspect south on North McDowell Boulevard, and were able to detain him just south of Redwood way.
