HAYWARD (KRON) — Joe Ioramo, a 16-year-old boy from Union City, has died following Sunday’s crash on I-880 in Hayward.

The crash happened around 1:25 a.m. on southbound I-880 near the A Street on-ramp, according to officials.

The driver, 17-year-old Izaiah Mease, was also killed in the crash. Mease was pronounced dead at the scene.

A third minor in Mease’s car was taken to the hospital to be treated injuries.

Two adults and a 3-year-old in the second car suffered minor injuries.

Police are still investigating what caused the deadly crash.

A vigil is being held for the victims outside James Logan High School on Monday night.

Ioramo was just starting his junior year in high school.

Ioramo’s sister said he was always the life of the party.

“He would just come out of nowhere and start making jokes, clowning on everybody,” Danielle Ioramo said. “…Everything that he said was actually always original from him.”

Ioramo was just weeks away from his 17th birthday.
