Police looking for Stanford Mall purse snatcher

PALO ALTO (KRON)—Police are looking for a man who stole a woman’s purse from her shoulder inside the Stanford Shopping Center parking lot in Palo Alto.

It happened on Monday around 2:35 p.m. in the parking lot of the Nordstrom store on 550 Sand Hill Road.

A woman in her 60s was standing near the trunk of her car near Arboretum Road when a man approached her.

The suspect ripped the purse from her right shoulder and ran into a waiting car heading eastbound on Sand Hill Road.

The victim was taken to the hospital after complaining of shoulder pain.

The suspect is described as a man of an unknown race standing at 5 feet 7 inches tall.

He was last seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt and pants.

The suspected car was red or maroon and a newer 4-door sedan. It is possibly a Toyota Camry.

The victim was not able to give a description of the driver.
