VIDEO: Man shot, killed in San Mateo; 2 detained

SAN MATEO (KRON) — Police are investigating a homicide in San Mateo Tuesday night.

It happened in a parking lot on the 3500 block of South El Camino Real at around 7 p.m., police said.

The victim is a 31-year-old man, Det. Nick Ryan said. He has been identified as Daniel Corona, according to the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office.

Police said they pursued a possible suspect car northbound on I-280 to I-380, and then north on 101 towards San Francisco

Officers detained the two suspects in the car near Market and Octavia Streets in San Francisco.

They have been identified as 22-year-old Alejandro DeLeon, a transient, and 20-year-old Luis Mercado, of Hayward.

“This appears to have been an isolated incident, and not a random act,” police said in a press release.

A memorial has been set up at the scene of the shooting.

The family has set up a YouCaring account for Corona.
