ANTIOCH (KRON) — A 13-year-old girl was sexually assaulted while walking on an Antioch street last week, according to police.
Police said the assault happened at around 7:56 a.m. while the girl was walking on West 10th Street on her way to school. As she walked by Bonfare Market, she was approached by 34-year-old Bernard Cain, of Antioch, police said.
According to police, Cain walked with the girl and began chatting with her. At one point, Cain allegedly grabbed the girl on her wrist as she struggled to get free.
Cain then is accused of pulling the girl close and hugging her, and later sexually assaulting her.
She eventually broke free and ran to school. The girl then told school officials, who reported the incident to police.
Officers found Cain near the Bonfare Market, where he was arrested.
Police said Cain tried to lure a 14-year-old girl walking home from school into his car on West 10th Street near L Street back in January. Authorities did not find Cain at that time.
Cain has been charged with committing a lewd or lascivious on a child and another count of the same to include by force.
He is also being charged with one count of annoying or molesting a child.
The charges stem from both cases.
Cain is currently in custody at the Contra Costa County Jail.
