SAN JOSE(KRON)—The executive director of Latinos United for America was arrested Monday outside of a Target in San Jose while he was registering voters.
Salvador “Chava” Bustamante was arrested outside the Target on the corner of Story Road and S. King Road.
Bustamante was in police custody for almost eight hours, according to Latinos United for A New America.
Target claims Bustamante was outside the store harassing shoppers and police were called in to arrest him.
Bustamante says he was not harassing anyone and was just trying to make sure people were registered to vote before the deadline on Oct. 24.
