CONTRA COSTA COUNTY (KRON)—Contra Costa County Animal Services is asking for the public’s help in finding a suspect who shot a dog in the leg.
A good Samaritan brought the dog into the services’ shelter in Martinez on Saturday.
The 2-year-old German Shepherd appeared to have an injury to its back right leg.
After conducting X-rays, veterinarians found the dog had been shot in the leg and that its right femur was shattered.
Veterinarians had to amputate the leg and the dog is now recovering.
He will be ready for adoption next week.
Contra Costa Animal Services officers are investigating the case.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Contra Costa Animal Services.
