Elderly man knocked down, robbed near Chinatown’s Portsmouth Square

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A 71-year-old man was knocked down and robbed in San Francisco’s Chinatown on Wednesday morning, police said.

The robbery happened at around 6 a.m. in the first block of Walter U. Lum Place, police said. That street borders Portsmouth Square.

The elderly man was approached from behind by a suspect and was hit with a hard object, police said. The man then fell to the ground.

The suspect then took the victim’s wallet, cash, credit cards and ID and fled.

The victim, who suffered a cut to the head and an abrasion to his elbow, went to a hospital for examination.

No arrest has been made in the case as of Thursday morning.
