SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A naked man was arrested last week after he allegedly tried to gouge out an officer’s eye and bite him in San Francisco.

Officers responded to a report of a naked man chasing and throwing branches at people on the 3800 block of 25th Street at 6:21 a.m. on Sept. 9, police said.

When the officer arrived, he found a partially naked man, later identified as 37-year-old Robert Mathew Kaplan, talking to himself.

Shortly after he found Kaplan, a fight ensued between Kaplan and the officer.

Three additional officers came to the scene to help and struggled with Kaplan as they attempted to handcuff him.

The officer who initially responded suffered an injury to his right eye when Kaplan tried to gouge out the officer’s eyes, police said,

Kaplan also bit the officer’s face, leaving the officer with a severe bite mark on his right cheek.

Kaplan, of San Deigo, was eventually restrained and charged with felony battery on a peace officer, felony battery causing serious bodily injury, felony assault with a deadly weapon, felony vandalism, felony aggravated mayhem, and obstructing and resisting a peace officer.

The officer also sustained cuts to his hands and abrasions to his forearms.
