Oakland driver hits bicyclist with car, steals bike

OAKLAND (KRON) — A driver ran down a bicyclist and then stole his bike in East Oakland on Thursday afternoon.

Officers responded around 2:00 p.m. to the 1300 block of 88th Avenue on a report of an assault with a deadly weapon.

The suspect approached the victim as he was riding a bicycle.

After a brief conversation, the cyclist rode away, but the suspect followed him and then hit him with a car, police said.

The cyclist fell to the ground and the suspect then stole his bicycle.

The victim was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
