Two people killed in Redwood City car crash

REDWOOD CITY(KRON)—Two people died in a car crash on Highway 1 in Redwood City Saturday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The two-car crash was reported around 4 p.m. in a northbound lane on the highway near Pidgeon Point Road, said CHP Officer William Ogilvie.

Officers found two people were dead at the scene.

A Dodge pickup truck was traveling south on Highway 1 when a Mazda CX-5 tried to pull out onto the highway from Pigeon Point Road but came right into the path of the Dodge and the two vehicles collided, CHP said.

The two occupants of the Mazda, a 22-year-old Campbell woman and a 23-year-old San Jose woman were killed.

A Sig-Alert was issued around 5:25 p.m. closing the northbound lane. It reopened around 8 p.m.
