San Francisco police officers sprayed with fire extinguisher in confrontation with ‘mentally-disturbed’ person

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Four San Francisco police offers were sprayed with a fire extinguisher on Sunday night in a confrontation with a mentally-disturbed suspect, according to police.

The incident happened in the city’s Tenderloin neighborhood at around 5:30 p.m., police said. Officers got a call about the mentally-disturbed person in the 300 block of Leavenworth Street.

That is when a 24-year-old man sprayed them with a fire extinguisher, police said.

The officers were taken to a hospital with respiratory distress but are expected to recover from their injuries, police said.

The suspect was arrested but his identity had not been released as of Monday morning.
