Package found at Berkeley Public Safety Building now deemed safe

BERKELEY (KRON)—Berkeley Fire Hazmat team and the police bomb squad found a suspicious package has now been deemed safe Wednesday afternoon.

The package forced police and fire officials to a shelter in place.

It was reported at the Berkeley Public Safety Building on 2100 Martin Luther King Jr. Way around 3:30 p.m.

The package was dropped off by a resident who didn’t understand why it was at their doorstep.

The resident found it was leaking and was afraid of what was inside the package. He put it on the steps of the Berkeley Police Department.

Authorities found narcotics was inside the package.
