(CNN/KRON)—A new report says millions of Americans are drinking tap water contaminated with Chromium-6 which can cause cancer.
The chemical was featured in the 2000 movie “Erin Brockovich.”
The EPA never set a specific limit for chromium-6 in drinking water.
There’s scientific uncertainty on the safe levels and long-term consequences.
The new report says the tap water of 218 million Americans contains unsafe levels.
It also found that Oklahoma, Arizona and California had the highest average levels.
