CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WNCN) — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Headquarters was evacuated on Tuesday afternoon after an apparent bomb threat was made, according to reports.
Just before 5 p.m., CMPD Police said that a suspicious package was found at the headquarters.
WBTV reported around 4:30 p.m. that the building was evacuated.
Just after 5 p.m., Charlotte police said that the bomb squad had arrived to investigate the package.
The incident comes exactly a week after Keith Lamont Scott was fatally shot by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police during a confrontation.
That shooting sparked several days of protests and riots in the city.
