(KRON)—Former San Francisco Giants player Barry Bonds has been fired as the hitting coach of the Miami Marlins, according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.
Bonds was with the team for one season.
He said that he wanted to return to the team in August, but the baseball team reportedly did not want him to come back.
Bonds helped the Marlins achieve a .263 batting average. This helped the team rank fourth in the league in that area, but the team just ranked 27th in runs scored.
The team’s offense improved from 19th last season to 17th this season.
Bonds shared hitting coach duties with Frank Menechino.
