SAN MATEO COUNTY (KRON) — The missing kayaker who’s body was found Sunday near the San Mateo bridge has been identified as 37-year-old Filip Anderson of Greenbrae, according to the San Mateo Coroner’s office.
The kayaker was with two other kayakers when he went missing around 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
The group left from Oyster Point in South San Francisco. The kayakers discovered the victim had gone missing near the San Francisco International Airport, according to U.S. Coast Guard officials.
Coast Guard officials began a search for the man with help from the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office and the San Mateo County Fire Department.
A helicopter then discovered his body just south of the San Mateo Bridge around 3 a.m. Sunday morning.
