FAIRFIELD (KRON) — Authorities are investigating a “creepy clown” social media account that threatened Fairfield schools Monday night.
The Twitter user ClownGanng1 posted a threat at 5:40 p.m. specially mentioning Grange Middle School and Fairfield High School.

An investigation revealed that there is no credible threat to campus, the principal of Grange Middle School said in a letter posted to the school’s website. However as a precaution, Fairfield police will be at the school Tuesday.
This is just the latest of many clown-related incidents nationwide. Creepy clown sighting, encounters and threats have been widespread across the nation in the last month.
The Fairfield Police Department said the anonymous person has threatened several schools. Just this week, Oakland and Antioch schools also received threats from clown accounts.
“While we have no reason to believe the recent social media posts pose a credible threat, the Fairfield Police Department will continue to work closely with administrators at Fairfield schools to continue to ensure a safe learning environment for all students and staff,” the department said in a press release.
