GOP declares Mike Pence “clear winner” of VP debate…before it started

Pence musters all of his Midwestern earnestness as he describes Donald Trump as “a man of faith.” He says the Republican nominee is “a man I’ve prayed with and gotten to know on a personal level.” The description, in an interview with The Associated Press, stands in sharp relief to Trump's public profile over much of his career: a twice-divorced former playboy who has boasted of his sexual exploits, flaunted his wealth, used crass insults and made sweeping generalizations about whole races. FARMVILLE, Va. (WIAT) — Tuesday evening, the GOP published an article declaring Republican VP nominee Mike Pence the “clear winner” of the debate, hours before he took the stage.

The website GOP.com said, “Americans from all across the country tuned in to watch the one and only Vice Presidental debate. During the debate, we helped fact check and monitor the coversation in realtime @GOP. The consensus was clear after the dust settled, Mike Pence was the clear winner of the debate.”

The only problem, of course, is that the dust hasn’t even fallen. The debate will broadcast live tonight at 8 p.m. CT.
