PALO ALTO (KRON)—Palo Alto police arrested a woman Thursday morning for allegedly stabbing her 65-year-old sister-in-law to death.
The stabbing was reported around 7:40 p.m. on July 7 at a home on Creekside Drive near the Montessori School of Los Altos.
Jenny Shi, 65, was found dead inside the home.
A preliminary investigation found that a family member reported the stabbing, but it was not the one who was arrested.
The family member went to the home to find Shi and found her dead.
An autopsy report conducted by the Santa Clara County Medical-Examiner Coroner found Shi died from being stabbed multiple times.
Investigators went to the scene who found evidence linking Shi’s sister-in-law to the stabbing.
Detectives presented the evidence to the Santa Clara District Attorney’s Office and obtained a warrant for the suspect’s arrest.
The suspect was arrested at her Palo Alto home on San Antonio Road Thursday morning.
41-year-old Jingyan Jin was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for homicide.
Despite the arrest, there is still an ongoing investigation in the case.
