PALO ALTO (KRON)—A Stanford University graduate student was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman inside a residential building last month, according to Stanford’s Department of Public Safety.
The man allegedly assaulted a 28-year-old woman who was not a student at the school on Sept. 24 at the Lyman Graduate Residence, said department spokesman William Larson.
The suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Govinda Dasu.
The woman assaulted and Gasu were reportedly dating, Larson said.
The man was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail and released the next day.
The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office has not yet determined if charges will be filed against the suspect.
Stanford University says it didn’t issue a warning about the incident because it would have meant the suspect was an ongoing threat.
This arrest comes within a week of a rape reported on Sept. 30 on the eastside of campus.
The woman told police she was raped by a man she didn’t know early in the morning, public safety officials said.
