UNION CITY (KRON) — James Logan High School in Union City was on lockdown Friday afternoon, and one juvenile has been arrested.
Police determined it was a hoax type of a threat. The 16-year-old boy was arrested for making a false report of an emergency, police said.
The high school went into lockdown mode sometime around 12:30 p.m. for unknown reasons at the time.
“On October 7, 2016 at 12:06 PM, dispatch received a call from an anonymous person with the inference that someone was going to the Logan High School Campus with a weapon to hurt someone. The caller then hung up without providing additional information,” police said.
Union city police said they received a 911 hang up call informing them that someone was approaching the high school with a weapon.
The school was put on lockdown as police tried to verify the threat.
Meanwhile, rumors spread about the threat being from yet another person dressed as a clown.
School officials and police responded to the school and were on scene at 1800 H Street.
All of the students are fine, no injuries have been reported.
The lockdown was lifted around 2:20 p.m.
The students were released from school at 3:20 p.m.
“City officials will be calculating the associated costs of all the emergency response services deployed to the incident and may consider cost recovery measures for those deemed responsible for the hoax,” police said.
One week ago, just last Friday, there were reports of shots fired near the school while a football game was in play.
