SAN JOSE (KRON) — A San Jose man was arrested for a suspected DUI crash that killed a bicyclist on Thursday night, police said on Friday.
The crash happened at around 9:41 p.m. at Auzerais Avenue and Drake Street, police said.
A preliminary investigation showed that a driver of white 2005 Dodge was driving west on Auzerais Avenue when allegedly he drifted to the right into a bike lane, clipped a parked van and hit the cyclist.
The cyclist, a man whose name hasn’t yet been released, died at the scene. He is the 34th person to die this year in San Jose in a traffic collision, police said.
The driver of the Dodge, 26-year-old Taylor Hildreth, stayed at the scene and then was booked into county jail on suspicion of felony DUI.
Anyone with information about the collision is being asked to call Detective Kelvin Pham of the San Jose Police Department’s traffic investigations unit at (408) 277-4654.
