Tech Report: Navy setup at Marina Green in San Francisco has virtual reality experience

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The Navy is using the latest cutting-edge technology to entertain and inspire people on the Marina Green in San Francisco this weekend for Fleet Week.

Have you ever wanted to pilot a high-speed assault craft or extract Navy SEALs from enemy territory? You’ll get your chance at San Francisco Fleet Week, when the U.S. Navy features a new high-tech virtual reality experience showcasing what it feels like to be part of today’s Navy.

The immersive, virtual reality mobile display, built into an 18-wheeler truck, stops off in San Francisco after making its debut in Sacramento last weekend. Located at Marina Green, the display opens to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Sunday, October 9. Navy staff will be on hand as well to answer questions and help visitors navigate the site.
