OAKLAND (KRON)—Stockton police are investigating the death of a 2-year-old boy after his body was found on Friday, according to a police spokesman.
“We believe that whatever happened to the boy occurred in Stockton,” Stockton police spokesman Officer Joe Silva said.
Authorities are awaiting the results of an autopsy that is being performed on the 2-year-old, police said.
Based on the results, police will decide whether to continue with its investigation, Silva said.
The Oakland Police Department helped Stockton police rescue the 2-year-old on East 17th St. near Garfield Elementary and Garfield Municipal Playground around 1:45 p.m. on Friday.
Stockton police recovered the body at the hospital, Silva said.
No one is in custody for the boy’s death, but his family members have been interviewed by police.
