VIDEO: Two people shot near mortuary in Vallejo

VALLEJO (KRON) — Two people have been shot Tuesday afternoon near a mortuary in Vallejo.

The shooting happened on Amador and Tennessee streets near the Twin Chapels Mortuary.

Upon arriving on scene at around 1:15 p.m., responding officers found two male victims down on the south sidewalk suffering from gunshot wounds, according to Vallejo police Lt. Kent Tribble. Both victims were coherent and alert.

One victim sustained gunshot wounds to his lower torso. The other victim had a grazing wound on his lower right leg, police said.

Both victims were transported to the hospital. Their current conditions are unknown.

After interviewing witnesses, it was established that the shooting may have been a result of an argument that had occurred between the victims and a suspect at the 7-Eleven a block away, on the 1200 block of Tennessee St.

The two victims were on a break from a nearby barber’s college that they both attended.

A male suspect seated in a vehicle in the 7-Eleven parking lot may have believed comments made by the victims as they talked amongst themselves were targeted at him.

The male suspect exited the vehicle and confronted the victims.

However, the victims dismissed the suspect and proceeded to walk back to the barber’s college.

As the victims walked westbound on Tennessee Street, the suspect, seated in the passenger seat of a vehicle, pulled up to the suspects, exited the vehicle, and shot the victims with a handgun, Tribble said.

The suspect then jumped back into the vehicle and fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 20s, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, with short blonde straight hair, wearing a white t-shirt.

The driver is described as a heavyset white female adult, with dirty blonde hair in a ponytail.

The suspect vehicle is described as a small passenger vehicle, possibly a Pontiac, bright yellow in color.

Vallejo police are asking anyone that may have information regarding the shooting to please contact them.

Workers at the mortuary tell KRON4 they heard the gunshots, but they did not see the shooting.
