Suspicious package downtown San Francisco cleared

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A suspicious package in San Francisco has been cleared after prompting a shelter in place on Wednesday afternoon.

At 12:50 p.m. the San Francisco Police Department reported they are investigating a suspicious package on Market Street and O’Farrel Street.

Those in the area were told to shelter in place, stay inside and avoid windows until further notice. The public was told to avoid the area.

At 1:40 p.m., SFPD reported the suspicious package was cleared and the shelter and place has been lifted.

Streets in the area that had been shutdown and have now been re-opened.

Further information regarding the package was not immediately available.
