Berkeley police investigating overnight armed robbery near UC Berkeley

BERKELEY (KRON) — UC Berkeley police are investigating an armed robbery that happened on Wednesday morning, police said.

Police said the robbery happened at around 1 a.m. along the 2700 block of Ridge Road. The victim was walking when the suspect approached him.

The armed robber showed a handgun and demanded the victim’s property, according to police. The victim was not hurt in the robbery.

The suspect ran away west on Ridge Road.

Police could not locate the suspect.

The suspect is described as a man with a tan complexion, about 6 feet tall, with curly hair, medium build, and a full beard. He was wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt and a beanie.

Five robberies happened near the University of California at Berkeley campus on Sunday, campus police said.
