LAFAYETTE (KRON) — The lockdown has been lifted Thursday morning for Acalanes High School and Springhill Elementary School in Lafayette.
Two auto burglary suspects were arrested after a chase from Pleasant Hill to Lafayette Thursday morning and a search of the neighborhood surrounding two schools, Lafayette’s chief of police said.
The schools were put on lockdown at around 10:30 a.m. as police searched the area for a suspect.
One of the suspects was found hiding in the boy’s locker room at Acalanes High School at 1200 Pleasant Hill Road. The other was found hiding in a nearby backyard, Lafayette police Chief Eric Christensen said.
Officers with the Pleasant Hill Police Department were in pursuit when the suspect fled into the area of the high school located at 1200 Pleasant Hill Road.
The suspects stopped next to Acalanes High School and both ran from the car. One ran onto the high school grounds and the other ran into the neighborhood, Christiansen said.
Police closed off streets in the area and used K-9 units along with a helicopter to find the suspect.
Pleasant Hill police placed both suspects under arrest. Christiansen could not immediately provide their names and referred further questions to Pleasant Hill police.
