San Bruno police shoot at man accused of assaulting officer

SAN BRUNO (KRON)—San Bruno police opened fire on a man who allegedly drove a car towards an officer before they chased him into San Francisco and arrested him Wednesday evening.

An car burglary in progress was reported to police around 8:30 p.m. near the corner of El Camino Real and Jenevein Ave.

Officers tried to stop the suspect, 25-year-old Vernon Evans-Carmichael when he was inside his car.

Evans-Carmichael allegedly drove his car towards a police officer who was on foot.

The officer shot at Evans-Carmichael, but missed while he was driving away.

Police caught up with Evans-Carmichael with the help of the California Highway Patrol.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

Evans-Carmichael was booked into the San Mateo County jail on suspicion of assault on a police officer with a deadly weapon, evading arrest, possession of stolen property and outstanding warrants.
