DANVILLE, Calif. (AP) — A Utah teenager has agreed to publicly apologize after his arrest for vandalizing a popular war memorial in Danville.
The East Bay Times reports (http://bit.ly/2dNclFe ) that 18-year-old Jared Vance of Provo was charged with vandalism after Danville police say surveillance video showed him defacing the All Wars Memorial with red and black graffiti in June 2015.
The graffiti included the words “Let’s get high” and depictions of mushrooms.
The All Wars Memorial board has been promoting the public apology but says it will keep the event respectable.
Board leader Bill Picton says Vance agreed to the apology, community service and to cover the cost of graffiti removal in mediation. He is not expected to serve jail time.
Vance’s attorney, Nick Billings, was not immediately available for comment.
