PITTSBURG (KRON) — Pittsburg police are investigating a carjacking at a BART parking lot on Friday afternoon, according to Lt. Aaron Ledford.
Around 12:15 p.m., two suspects approached a woman in the Pittsburg BART parking lot, pushed her to the ground, and demanded the keys to her vehicle, police said. The victim’s vehicle, a Nissan sedan, was spotted on or near Highway 4 by a Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Deputy.
Multiple units ended up either following or pursuing the suspect vehicle from Highway 4 to I-80 eastbound, across the Carquinez Bridge, to Vallejo, where the suspects ultimately stopped the car and were taken into custody.
BART police escorted the victim to Vallejo to possibly identify the suspects.
Age and genders of the suspects are unknown at this time, but one of the suspects was possibly wearing a mask at the time of the carjacking.
KRON4’s Haaziq Madyun is currently at the Pittsburg BART Station and will have a report on KRON4 News at 5 p.m.
Police were investigating an apparent collision between a sheriff’s deputy’s cruiser and a civilian vehicle just outside the station.
It is not clear if this collision is related to the carjacking at this time.
