Mass power outages reported in the East Bay

SAN PABLO — Nearly 5,000 customers are without power in the Richmond and San Pablo area, Friday morning.

According to PG&E crews, as of 7:00 a.m. crews have confirmed with KRON4 News that 11,500 customers are without power in both the Richmond and San Pablo area.

About 5,000 customers were affected around 4:18 a.m., Friday morning. That number quickly rose.

Crews said, the power outages occurred to flash overs. Flash overs are when dust accumulates on power lines and the first light rains of the season turn the dust into mud, conducting electricity from the power lines.

Teams are at the scene and are continuing to work on restoring power, so far no estimated time has been reported.
