Pedestrian suffering life threatening injuries after being struck by vehicle in Petaluma

PETALUMA (KRON) — A 23-year-old male is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle, Friday night.

According to police, around 7:43 p.m. the male pedestrian was walking westbound in the bicycle lane in the 500 block of Lakeville Street. While on the road, the pedestrian was struck by a motorist.

The pedestrian was struck by 27-year-old Brian Bianucci of Petaluma.

At the time of the accident according to police, the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and was struck by Bianucci’s 2015 Volkswagen Golf. The vehicle was heavily damaged, and the pedestrian was thrown approximately 50 feet after impact.

Police transported the pedestrian to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major head injuries.

Police have not identified the pedestrian until family members have been notified.

Bianucci has been cooperating with the police and their investigation and consented to a voluntary blood draw at Petaluma Valley Hospital. Police said, alcohol does not appear to play any part in the accident.
