Fairfield police identify man killed during fight at group home

FAIRFIELD (KRON) — Fairfield police have identified a 28-year-old man killed during a fight at a transitional group home on Sunday, police said on Wednesday.

Police said 33-year-old Salvador Romero was arrested in connection with the murder of Michael Perry. Romero was also arrested on suspicion of a probation violation.

Both men lived at the room and board home in the 500 block of Dakota Street that is not required to be licensed, Detective Kathryn McCormick said on Wednesday.

Police responded around 7:15 p.m. Sunday to the home, which is for people who are able to care for themselves with little assistance. Weapons were not involved in the homicide, McCormick said.

Romero was arraigned this afternoon in Solano County Superior Court and a preliminary hearing date is scheduled for Nov. 1.
