72-year-old Santa Rosa motorcyclist suffers major injuries in crash

SANTA ROSA (KRON) — A 72-year-old Santa Rosa man suffered major injuries on Friday morning after his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck in west Sonoma County, California Highway Patrol Officer Jon Sloat.

The man was airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. His injuries, however, do no seem to be life-threatening, Sloat said.

The motorcyclist was driving the 2003 Harley-Davidson east on Valley Ford Road around 11 a.m. when the pickup hauling a flatbed trailer slowed in front of him west of Roblar Road, Sloat said.

The trailer being towed did not appear to have functioning taillights and the motorcyclist was unable to stop in time to avoid a collision, Sloat said.

He was ejected from his motorcycle when it struck the rear of the trailer. The collision shut down Valley Ford Road while the helicopter was on the road, Sloat said.
