SONOMA (KRON) — Sonoma police are investigating a felony hit-and-run of a pedestrian, police said on Saturday.
The collision happened around 4 p.m. Friday on Broadway at Andrieux Street in Sonoma, police said. When police arrived, they said they found a car had hit a pedestrian in the crosswalk.
The car sped away before an officer arrived, police said. The suspect car was last seen driving north on Broadway in the area of Patten Street.
Several pedestrians and driver witnessed the collision and stopped to try and help the victim, who was lying in the roadway, according to police.
Fire crews also responded to the scene. The victim was rushed to Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa with significant injuries.
But the victim is recovering, police said.
The suspect car is described as a gray or silver sedan, with a shattered windshield, possibly a Mitsubishi Eclipse or Pontiac Grand Am. The driver is described as a white man in his 20s.
Police are trying to find surveillance video of the incident.
