CONTRA COSTA COUNTY (KRON) — If you are looking to adopt a pet, Contra Costa County Animal Services are offering a $20 adoption fee through the weekend.
Animal workers are hoping to alleviate overcrowding at the county’s shelters in Martinez and Pinole.
Animal services said they expect to see an increase in stray animals coming into county shelters as we head into the winter months.
The adoption includes spaying or neutering, microchipping, and vaccinations.
“We were able to adopt 87 animals, find home for 87 animals that were in our shelter,” animal shelter spokesman Steve Burdo said. “That’s really great news, and while we’re not continuing our free adoption special, we do have another adoption special that’s very low cost, $20 adoption special for all animals between now and the end of the month. This saves people upwards of $100 in adoption fees.”
Earlier this month, the shelter offered free adoptions and were able to find 87 animals a new home.
The shelters open at 10 a.m.
