ANTIOCH (KRON)—A fire burned a Antioch home Thursday morning displacing three people and killing two dogs and one parrot, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.
The fire was reported around 9 a.m. on the 4100 block of Amargosa Drive.
“By the time firefighters got there, there was a lot of fire on the first floor, which had weakened the second floor,” said fire Capt. George Laing.
It took crews about 50 minutes to control the one-alarm fire, which burned the fire so badly it was considered uninhabitable, Laing said.
The fire looked like it started in the living room.
Faulty electrical wiring is being investigated as a possible cause of the fire.
The American Red Cross is helping those who have been displaced find temporary housing.
