SFPD arrest suspect in officer-involved shooting

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON)—San Francisco police arrested a man in connection to the officer-involved shooting on Tuesday afternoon.

39-year-old Ansar Muhammad was charged in connection to the shooting on Faxon and Montana avenues.

Muhammad is still in the hospital and was booked in absentia.

He has been charged with attempted murder and car theft. Muhammad was also booked on four felony warrants including stolen vehicle, narcotics and theft related charges.

The shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday after the San Mateo County Vehicle Theft Task Force followed a stolen car from San Mateo County into San Francisco.

Officers from three different agencies were part of the task force and went up to the car on Faxon and Montana avenues.

Shots were fired which caused an officer-involved shooting to happen.

The driver of the suspected car was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

One officer was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
