PETALUMA (BCN) — Police arrested a man this morning in connection with an attempted robbery that occurred Friday afternoon at a Petaluma grocery store, according to police.

Around 12:15 p.m. on Friday, officers responded to a report of an attempted robbery at the Grocery Outlet at 80 E. Washington St., according to police.

Upon arrival, officers learned the suspect had taken a bottle of alcohol from a display shelf, police said.

When he tried to walk out the store with the bottle concealed in his jacket, the store’s manager confronted the man. The man however pushed the manager and a physical confrontation ensued, according to police.

During the struggle, the manager was able to get the alcohol bottle and the suspect fled before police arrived, police said.
