FBI searching for San Francisco female bank robber dubbed the ‘Headband Bandit’

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The FBI is searching for a female bank robber who allegedly held up at gunpoint a Wells Fargo on Thursday afternoon in San Francisco’s Laurel Heights neighborhood, authorities said.

The suspect, who has been dubbed the “Headband Bandit,” robbed the Wells Fargo at 3134 California St. around 1:50 p.m., according to FBI officials.

The woman allegedly entered the bank, approached the teller and handed him a note demanding money, before pointing a gun at him. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash the suspect then fled the bank on foot, police said.

Responding officers were unable to locate her.

She’s described as a woman initially believed to be in her 30s, and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a black athletic sweatband. She is about 5 feet 7 inches tall with a medium build, according to FBI officials.

Surveillance cameras were able to capture images of the suspect.
