ALAMEDA COUNTY (KRON) — Alameda County Sherrif’s Deputies went beyond the call of duty when they met a 17-year-old boy who sleeps on the ground in Hayward.
Deputies met Anthony Aguirre during a traffic stop, according to the sheriff’s office Facebook page.
They began to chat and learned that Anthony did not have a bed and was sleeping on the floor of his home that he shared with his mother.
As a single mom trying to make ends meet, Anthony’s mom could not afford to buy him a bed. That’s when Deputies J. Peterson and M. Magdael decided to help.
Deputies Peterson and Magdael went to other deputies and supervisors on their shift and collected money for the bed.
After buying the bed, pillows, and sheets, the deputies showed up at Anthony’s house to surprise him.
They cleaned up his room and assembled the bed. Now, Anthony is sleeping much better and has a new found respect for police.
