PALO ALTO (KRON) — Palo Alto police are looking for a man accused of approaching an 11-year-old boy on a sidewalk on Monday afternoon.
Police said at around 3:23 p.m., the suspect asked the boy his name and touched his shoulder. The boy then ran away.
The alleged incident happened on the 700 block of Colorado Avenue. Officers could not locate the suspect.
“The suspect, who the victim noticed had been standing in front of the 7-Eleven convenience store, crossed the street and stopped on the sidewalk in front of the boy,” police said in a press release. “He greeted the victim, who ignored him and walked past. The suspect then put one hand on the boy’s shoulder from behind and asked him for his name. The victim shrugged the suspect’s hand off and ran away.”
The boy was walking eastbound by himself on the north side of Colorado Avenue, police said.
The boy said the suspect is a Hispanic man with facial hair and a Spanish accent. He also said the suspect was wearing a blue shirt.
No police sketch is available at this time.
Police are investigating a similar incident that happened on Oct. 17 but do not think the same suspect is responsible.
