Server at San Francisco restaurant wins $1 million lottery prize

SACRAMENTO (KRON) — A server at a San Francisco restaurant won a $1 million lottery prize from the 50X the Money Scratchers ticket last month, according to California Lottery officials.

Ruben Cendejas was speechless when he walked into an East Bay California Lottery office to claim his prize.

“I just couldn’t believe it,” Cendejas said in statement. “I had to tell my brother before I came to the California Lottery office.”

Cendejas said he bought three Scratchers ticket the day he won the prize. This is not the first time Cendejas has had a Lottery win.

“I had won two other $1,000 prizes on Scratchers tickets before, but that was a while ago,” Cendejas said in statement.

California’s latest winner bought the ticket at Norm’s Market on Bryant Street in San Francisco.

The market will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the ticket.

Cendejas is still trying to figure out what to do with his prize.

“I haven’t had much time to think about it, but I will probably help my parents pay off their house,” Cendejas said.
