ELK GROVE, California (KRON) — A California man from the Sikh community says he is a minority and he supports Donald Trump.
Originally from India, Inderjit Kallirai has lived in California for more than 20 years.
He says he wasn’t a fan of Trump even halfway into his campaign.
But as the election drew closer, he felt he was the only candidate ready to fight for small businesses, create jobs, and fix immigration, despite the controversial comments made by the president-elect.
“Yes, he made some verbal blunders. But the issues that we as a nation faced and that we will talk about in our privacy, he was bringing them out,” Kallirai said. “See what he does. And if he (doesn’t) do anything, I stand up with the protesters. I go protest against him.”
Other minority groups also supported Trump this election.
According to the Pew Research Center’s analysis, Trump received 8 percent of the black vote, and 29 percent of the Latino vote, 2 percentage points higher than Mitt Romney got back in 2012.
