UC Santa Cruz police investigating possible hate crime

SANTA CRUZ (KRON)—A female student at University of California was harassed and had a rock thrown at her Friday night when she was walking through campus, according to police.

The incident was reported around 11:30 p.m. near the Quarry Ampitheater, police said.

Three men were calling out to her in an offensive way while she was walking on a path near Quarry Plaza, police said.

When the woman kept walking, one of the men threw a rock at her hitting her in the head.

The woman was able to leave the scene and get some help.

She has minor injuries and personnel treated her at the scene.

Campus police say they are investigating the case as a possible hate crime.

The three male suspects are in their early 20s.

The first suspect was unshaven. He wore sweatpants and a dark baseball cap.

The second suspect wore a light colored sweatshirt.

No description was given by police of the third suspect.
