ALAMEDA (KRON) — An Alameda elementary school was vandalized with racist graffiti on Friday, according to school officials.
Racist messages were all over the blacktop at Edison Elementary School, and were aimed towards Chinese, Japanese, and African Americans, school officials said.
The school was having a book fair when when staff saw the graffiti.
In response, a local organization, “Alameda Acts Together: Now,” joined concerned residents to greet the students with signs depicting love and acceptance.
They wanted to let them know that “everyone belongs” in Alameda.
Senior Manager of Community Affairs, Susan Davis, says the “Everyone Belongs Here” campaign has been in Alameda schools since 2015.
